Carrick-on-Shannon Ireland
Carrick-on-Shannon is situated on the shores of the majestic River Shannon. It is one of the most popular inland resorts in Ireland located in the Northwest of Ireland. This bustling town has a host of opportunities to offer visitors, renowned for its friendly people, attractive streetscapes, bustling marinas and traditional shop fronts. There is a wide range of quality restaurants, accommodation, entertainment, attractions and high street shops in Carrick and visitors are assured of a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay in this picturesque town.

Famed as the cruising capital of Ireland the town boasts a number of beautiful marinas and harbours. With 750km of cruising available the town is ideally situated at the gateway to both the River Shannon to the south and the Shannon-Erne Waterway to the north. If you are not taking a cruising holiday, day trips are available on the daily cruisers.

Carrick-on-Shannon is recognized as Anglers paradise, within a 10km radius of the town there are no fewer than 41 lakes. It boasts fantastic fishing opportunities for the amateur and professional fisher with many species of game and course fish available within a short distance of the town.

Carrick-on-Shannon is also surrounded by some of the most beautiful and unspoilt scenery in Ireland, Lough Key Forest Park is a short distance away as are the spectacular Glens of North Leitrim. A steam train in Dromod and numerous restored houses and gardens like Strokestown Park House can also bevisited.

The town itself is steeped in history and the visitors are recommended to take a walk through the town to discover its interesting historical buildings, in particular the Costello Chapel which is believed to be the smallest chapel in Europe.

Carrick-on-Shannon offers a wide variety of entertainment and boasts many talented musicians, providing lively sessions. Visitors will find lots to entertain them on land and water throughout the season from Spring to Autumn.
